This place is simple and great. If you care about how "up to date" the furniture is, then this isn't for you. However, it is reasonably priced, is safe, has comfortable beds, and the owners and staff are great. I would stay here again, it's clean- like eat off the bathroom floor clean- and in a good location. At first I thought the pink towels were dirty, turns out they even provide stain friendly towels for makeup and shoes that might otherwise stain their Immaculate white towels. They have washing machines, cool license plates everywhere, and coffee/danishes. Exactly what you want to travel through.

We took a trip to Rapid in September and stayed here for 4 days. It was such a wonderful experience - the owners are amazing and so nice, the rooms were VERY clean, and the rate can't be beat! The water pressure was also incredible, which is a huge perk in my book. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip out.

This is a great budget option! The room is really clean and cozy. The manager is wonderful! There is a small breakfast spread you can take back to your room including fruit and baked goods. I really liked the location too as it is across from a Safeway and near many restaurants. Also within walking distance to Main Street. Very easy to get in and out of town to visit my Rushmore and the other black hills sites.

The room, bed, bathroom and campus was very clean. The location is very good. Lots of places to eat nearby. Perkins is directly next door (good breakfast). Downtown is like a 15 minute walk. The service was great. Sharon who works the front desk is very nice. Its not the Hilton or Marriott as far as amenities go so don't expect all the bells and whistles of a hotel, but for the value you can't beat the Lazy "U". Thanks again to Sharon! 5 stars 🌟

Having a great stay! Very clean rooms. The owners are amazing.. accommodating, and very nice. They work hard to make sure you are having a good stay. Highly recommend the Lazy U. I want to add that the Lazy U is quiet and a safe place to stay. I feel like family. Om the owner and his wife always have a smile, even though they went through some flooding to multiple rooms after our big storm, they made sure we were safe and comfortable, all with a smile. Thank you for a wonderful extended stay. Will miss you guys and your hospitality.

First time staying at this motel and I heartily recommend! Excellent budget motel experience. The facilities need a little work here and there but the support staff did all the little things just right. The owner/operator remembered my name as I was checking out after a two day stay and also that I had a one year old son (whom he offered a small snack for the road). After returning to our room after our first day out touring I was surprised to discover that our housekeeper had folded my pajamas and placed them at the head of the bed, which was completely unexpected but very much appreciated. If we come back to Rapid City to vacation I plan to stay here again.

Very clean, very nice people. Great staff, and great service. Motel is a throwback for sure, but it is clean, comfortable, and friendly. Offered housekeeping every day. A/C was an updated unit and clean, and had no problem keeping up on 100+ degree days. Great water pressure too. All in all, a great stay.

I was really happy with our over night stay here at the Lazy U Motel. The beds are comfortable, clean and the linens are well kept. The room as a whole is a bit plain decor whise but who stays at a hotel for the decorating? The rooms have all the necessities, television, microwave, fridge, electrical outlets. The bathroom is also very clean and well kept water pressure is good. The owner chatted with us for a bit when we were checking in and it made me feel really happy to see that this is a family run business, which in my mind almost always guarantees a mark of excellent service and quality. Definitely give this place a go if you need a place to stay, I know we will when we come back to town. :)
